I've just ordered an iMac for Christmas, and I am looking for a few games to play on it. I've picked out the Sims 3 and maybe Total War: Rome. I really like games like Age of Empires and Civilization.
RTS and free2play don't go too well with each other. F2p games usually in team games, whereas strategies are 1v1, so in team games it's 'even out' design flaw of f2p business model, both teams can have either leveled up or non-leveled players. In 1v1 it's unfair when one of players have +5 attack on their unit and they win every time just becuase they grinded more or even paid.
You'd rather pay for game and have balanced match where you rely on skill, than game where you lose because opponent paid or grinded more or you win because you grinded more. My answer was don't try F2P RTSs because they are all bad. The reason they are all bad is because they are Pay to Win AF, and many of them are impossible unless you start playing just as they open up a new server because otherwise you'll always be screwed over by people who have been playing for many months longer than you and have a million times the resources. You asked for good F2P RTSs.
